Brief
The brief is the frozen answer to what Voidlight is making and how the Magus will recognize that it fits. It prevents a productive-looking generator loop from silently changing the commission.
Admit the commission
Voidlight begins only after the purpose, audience, target profile, budget, requested visual roles, and acceptance criteria are explicit. Each requested image, model, texture, animation, or sequence receives a semantic role and concrete spatial, temporal, and format constraints. Missing decisions remain questions; they are not filled by provider defaults.
Named references form a bounded source set. Each snapshot records its digest, classification, permitted purpose, retention, and known provenance. A URL is not a stable reference and possession is not permission. If a reference contains a recognizable person, protected mark, confidential material, or disputed origin, the brief records the likeness, consent, disclosure, and use boundary before production.
Source influence also survives generation. Prompts, control images, masks, adapters, fine-tunes, and selected examples remain attached to the candidate they influenced. “AI-generated” is a production fact, not a substitute for lineage or a declaration that every use is safe.
Freeze the starting line
The admitted brief pins:
- commission and target-profile revisions;
- exact source snapshots and unresolved questions;
- visual roles, output constraints, and review criteria;
- cost, provider, Portal, and retention ceilings; and
- the effects that require a separate approval.
A changed purpose, added reference, new likeness use, or materially different target creates a new brief revision. It does not rewrite the old one. If essential source authority or consent cannot be established, Voidlight returns a question, a reduced safe scope, or refusal before producing the dependent work.
The accepted brief passes to Direction and Assets by revision and digest. It carries no provider session, Sigil, secret, or downstream permission.
