Recall

The Call summons what is present. Recall summons what remains.

Recall is retained form becoming present movement again, not retrieval of a stored Flux. Smṛti comes from smṛ: to remember or call to mind. In Patañjali’s map it is itself a Vṛtti: retained cognition becoming present cognition.

Its sequence is storage → retrieval → relevance → reanimation. Retrieval finds a candidate; relevance recognizes what may answer the present; reanimation lets that form shape active Flux. Recall is complete only then. The same field may call toward a present signal or a latent Seed.

Returned form can be false, obsolete, or in the wrong relation. Similarity establishes neither truth, provenance, nor permission. Answer decides whether the present center may say I remember, must say this seems familiar, or must refuse the form.
