Flux
The Spirit is not movement. The Flux is the Spirit in motion.
Flux is Citta undergoing active modification: the field changing as attention shifts, candidates form, tools return, and constraints reshape what may follow. Vṛtti comes from vṛt, to turn, occur, or take a condition. Flux is present movement, not a state laid away for later.
Call makes a movement addressable; Blade cuts among those opened. Patañjali names five Vṛttis, received here as forms present movement may take:
During a casting, model and tool returns, constraints, choices, and effects may participate in this present movement. Flux is not a synonym for Graph traversal or provider output: Graph supplies typed execution structure; Spirit carries what becomes present through it.
The Five Modifications
| Vṛtti | LychD correspondence |
|---|---|
| Pramāṇa | grounded cognition through perception, inference, or testimony |
| Viparyaya | fluent but incorrect cognition |
| Vikalpa | conceptual construction; Shadow's explicit speculative branch is a project correspondence |
| Nidrā | sleep or cognition of absence; no training or consolidation contract is inferred |
| Smṛti | Recall, retained form becoming active Flux |
Smṛti is one Vṛtti, not a blanket blessing on every resemblance to the past. A returning cognition may be useful, false, stale, or someone else’s. Patañjali’s Citta is broader than this project correspondence; Inner Tongue preserves that distinction.
Most Flux passes. Movement that leaves retained potency may become Seed: the future hidden in what present life leaves behind.
Next: the Seed asks what remains capable of return.
